Brand Visibility Index (BVI): Measuring AI Search Presence
The Brand Visibility Index (BVI) is a proprietary composite metric by Pinealizer that quantifies how visible your brand is across AI search platforms. It combines AI Citation (35%), Keyword Rankings (30%), AI Overview presence (20%), and Competitive positioning (15%) into a single score.

BVI Formula
BVI = (AI Citation Score x 0.35) + (Keyword Rank Score x 0.30) + (AI Overview Score x 0.20) + (Competitive Score x 0.15). Each component is normalized to 0-100. The AI Citation Score measures citation frequency and sentiment across 8 search engines. Keyword Rank Score tracks traditional search positions. AI Overview Score measures presence in Google AI Overviews. Competitive Score compares your visibility against tracked competitors.
What is a Good BVI?
BVI scores range from 0-100. Below 20: effectively invisible to AI. 20-40: occasional citations. 40-60: moderate visibility. 60-80: strong visibility. Above 80: category leader. Most sites score under 30 on their first measurement. Consistent content investment and technical optimization can move the needle 5-15 points per quarter.

The highest-impact actions: ensure AI crawlers can access your site (many sites block them), build topical authority with depth (not breadth), add structured data and FAQ schema, create fresh content weekly, monitor and correct AI hallucinations about your brand, and build brand search volume through PR and social presence.
